This solo exhibition by one of the most important and prolific Indo-Canadian artist has been anticipated for a long time. It presents a rare collection of paintings by P. Mansaram in which he brilliantly captures the splendour and magnificence of India’s Mahrajas, their Palaces and their Cities. Jaipur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Krishengarh and Pushkar are all featured in his mixed media paintings and collages, which have been painstakingly created over the last 45 years. His paintings not only provide a pictograph on the life and customs of the Maharajas, they also give a glimpse of their love for art and architecture, and a passion for living.
Mansaram is a Burlington based artist who hails from Mount Abu in Rajasthan, where many Maharajas have their summer palaces. Mansaram studied fine arts at the J.J. School of Arts in Mumbai and the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. His works have been exhibited internationally, and are part of major private and public collections, including the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto and the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Delhi.
